Dr. Tekemia Dorsey Pens Down Her New Winning Formula For Triathletes

The award-winning sports coach and the current Executive Director of IABT, Dr. Tekemia Dorsey, has now come up a new e-course that dives into the benefits of multi-disciplined sports in preparing youth for college consideration and scholarships.

[14th March] | Baltimore, MD: Best Selling author, Dr. Tekemia Dorsey, who came to prominence after leading the International Association of Black Triathletes through multiple accolades has now come up a new e-course aiming toward preparing the young people for college consideration and scholarship from a young age. The e-course titled "Building Scholar Athletes College Resumes Through Multi-Disciplined Sports” is now available for a free download on their website and has been designed specifically for youth and parents from elementary to high school.

Many expert reviewers believe that this e-course provides a perfect blueprint to kickstart a journey from knowing and understanding the key components of development for youth. This e-course dives into the benefits of multi-disciplined sports and sheds some light on the lack of knowledge that currently exists in the preparation of developing a youth during their college life.

On the eve of a recent media release, Dr. Tekemia Dorsey was quoted as saying, “This e-course will lead parents and youths into the Summer Enrichment Programs by IABT and are geared towards youth aged between 8 -15 and 14-24. The e-course will discuss the impact of sports in providing relevant opportunities to life situations and scenarios and is aimed to increase awareness among the low and moderate income, under-served and under-represented communities in Urban America.”

Dorsey started her career as a School Counselor and has since worked as Leadership & Education Consultant and promoted to the Head Coach of a Junior MultiSport Club. She currently serves as an Executive Director of IABT, International Association of Black Triathletes, a 501C3 organization, headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland. It was under the expert guidance and leadership of Dr. Dorsey’s that IABT launched their first ever African American Junior MultiSport Club three years back, which is geared towards low and moderate income, under-served and under-represented communities that operate out of Baltimore. This Junior MultiSport Club competes locally and on the national circuit as well.

Having developed successful leadership models and curriculums that remain the basis and foundation for many programs at different levels, she is now committed to share her knowledge of sports with the youngsters and encourage them to take up multi-disciplined sports for a complete all-round development. Her course takes a different approach to programs, activities, professional development, workshops, which can be quite beneficial for the youth who comes from moderately poor families to gain college access and scholarships.
